Huck is a magazine that celebrates radical culture. Inspired by DIY principles and rooted in the rebellious heritage of surf and skate, Huck has featured significant pieces of journalism and ideas from authors like Douglas Coupland, Dave Eggers, Miranda July and Kim Gordon. The magazine’s design is set to reflect its hands-on attitude, featuring great photography and illustration.I had the chance to design for over 2 years the free-form and zine-like back section of the magazine.

I also created and commissioned artworks and layouts for the magazine. Little White Lies has been described as “the best-designed film magazine on the shelf” by The Guardian. The design of each issue is inspired by its feature film, often represented on the cover by an illustration of its lead actor. The cover film also influences interior aspects, such as editorial icons, chapter headings and custom typefaces. However, the overall template of the magazine remains the same.I created illustrations and typography for four issues, using various techniques, from hand-drawn to op-art inspired to woodcut.
